Glendive and Wolf Point locations to have seed inventory for the Spring 2022 growing season
GREAT FALLS, Mont. – (March 22, 2022) – Sustainable Oils, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Global Clean Energy Holdings, Inc., today announced eastern Montana growers will have more convenient access to Sustainable Oils certified camelina seed, with agronomy consulting and grain delivery services through a new partnership agreement with CHS Farmers Elevator and Ag Partners, LLC in Glendive and Wolf Point.
While it is the first elevator location in eastern Montana to support Sustainable Oils Camelina, CHS Farmers Elevator is the second CHS group to support Montana camelina growers. Sustainable Oils also partners with CHS Big Sky to serve the needs of central and western Montana growers with its Sustainable Oils Camelina.
“Our partnership with CHS Farmers Elevator and Ag Partners makes growing Sustainable Oils Camelina more accessible and convenient for eastern Montana growers,” said Barney Bernstein, Sustainable Oils’ Vice President of Operations – North America. “As we continue to expand contract production of Sustainable Oils Camelina, our partnership with CHS provides access to the grain handling and transportation services necessary to efficiently deliver harvested grain to our Global Clean Energy biorefinery in Bakersfield, CA, where the camelina oil will be used to produce renewable diesel and other renewable fuels.”
“As the nation’s leading farmer-owned cooperative, CHS is always looking for opportunities to help its members remain competitive in the global marketplace,” said David Miller, general manager, CHS Farmers Elevator. “In Sustainable Oils Camelina, our members now will have access to a short-season, drought resistant crop alternative they can use to generate profit during these dry, challenging growing conditions. CHS Farmers Elevator and Ag Partners are excited to help Sustainable Oils introduce camelina to eastern Montana.”
Global Clean Energy is targeting contract growers to produce more than one million acres of Sustainable Oils Camelina in Montana and across the High Plains as feedstock for its Bakersfield Biorefinery. ExxonMobil has made a five-year commitment to purchase up to 220 million gallons of renewable diesel from Global Clean Energy’s Bakersfield Biorefinery.
